He is young, half-grown and new to the pasture. But No. 195 is performing as expected.
Naturalists try to avoid nicknaming bison, so 195 is the official name of the male bison that
joined the all-female herd last month at Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park in what could be called
Project Baby Bison.
I went out to check on the state of bison romance last week. I saw mostly grazing and drooling,
but 49ers Jerseys For Cheap park naturalists assure me that 195 is fully committed to the mission. And authentic jerseys wholesale to think he鈥檚 still
just a lad.
Someday, the newcomer will be a 2,000-pound behemoth. Right now, he鈥檚 like an ungulate Justin
Bieber: slightly built (for a bison), with an underdeveloped goatee and a marked effect on the
younger ladies.
His arrival by trailer in late August made a splash with the six females who had been grazing
the prairie without male companionship at Battelle Darby Creek since 2011.
鈥淎ll the girls started running around,鈥?naturalist Debbie Ruppersburg said. 鈥淭hey were running
around in circles. They say that, if they鈥檙e accepting the male, they鈥檒l kind of get a little more
active.鈥?
The newcomer immediately took Arizona Cardinals Jerseys a shine to No. 39, a 5-year-old female.
鈥淗e kind of got in between her and the rest of the herd, and kept her separate,鈥?Ruppersburg
said. 鈥淎nd Custom Arizona Cardinals Jerseys For Sale he did that for, like, five days.鈥?
That鈥檚 called creepy in the human world, but in bison circles it鈥檚 known as
tending, a sign of mating interest. But has it gone any further?
鈥淔rom what we鈥檙e hearing, he鈥檚 doing his job, and that鈥檚 all we need to know,鈥?naturalist Tim
Taylor said.
Bison mate at night, so there are no eyewitness accounts.
But several females have shown signs of receptivity, and No.鈥?95 has tended several of them.
Expect a baby in the spring.
To see the herd, go to the Battelle Darby Creek Nature Center entrance, 1415 Darby Creek Dr.,
and follow the signs. If you鈥檙e lucky, the bison won鈥檛 be lying down authentic jerseys for cheap in their pasture. They tend to
be more active early and late.
The young male hasn鈥檛 yet been Authentic 49ers Jerseys Sale seen consorting with Big Mama (not all attempts to avoid
nicknaming are successful). She is the dominant female, as big as 195 at about 1,000 pounds and
several years older.
He kept his distance from her on the day I observed them. But, someday, who knows? The park
plans no more male additions (it would lead to spectacular fights), and bison don鈥檛 mate for
life.
In time, No. 195 is likely to have his pick of all six females.
鈥淗e鈥檚 got it made in the shade,鈥?Ruppersburg said.
鈥淎nd in the sun,鈥?added Taylor.

CARSON, Calif. Welcome to the StubHub Center, where it s a beautiful-but-windy Saturday evening here.
The anticipation for this one has already taken a blow as we learned this afternoon that Sounders FC Discount Arizona Cardinals Jerseys s Clint Dempsey didn t make the trip . There is another star on injury watch as L.A. s Landon Donovan was just undergoing a pregame fitness test and he tries to get back from an ankle injury.
Brad Evans is another one to watch, as he made the trip after missing three games with a calf strain.
It seems Seattle might have some fans around the league as a Galaxy defeat would help the playoff causes of teams Arizona Cardinals Jerseys Discount | like Vancouver, Colorado and some others.
Of course winning here hasn t come easily for Seattle, having gone 0-5-1 since 2010 (outscored 13-2). The last visit in May resulted in a 4-0 whipping.
I ll post lineups here when they become available.
*聽聽聽聽 *聽聽聽聽 *
Sounders FC lineup: Arizona Cardinals Jerseys Discount | GK Michael Gspurning, D DeAndre Yedlin, D Jhon Kennedy Hurtado, D Zach Scott, D Leo Gonzalez, M Mauro Rosales, M Osvaldo Alonso, M Andy Rose, M Lamar Neagle, F Obafemi Martins, F Eddie Johnson
Sounders FC bench: GK Marcus Hahnemann, D Djimi Traore, D Marc Burch, M Brad Evans, M Adam Moffat, M Steve Zakuani, F David Estrada
LA Galaxy lineup: GK Jaime Penedo; D Sean Franklin, D Omar Gonzalez, D Leonardo, D Todd Dunivant; M Hector Jimenez, M Juninho, M Marcelo Sarvas, M Gyasi Zardes; F Jose Villarreal, F Robbie Keane
LA Galaxy bench: GK Brian Rowe, D Kofi Opare, M Pablo Mastroeni, M Michael Stephens, M Rafael Garcia, M Laurent Discount Arizona Cardinals Jerseys | Courtois, F Jack Arizona Cardinals Jerseys Discount | McBean
NOTES: Landon Donovan not even able to make the bench for the Galaxy, so both teams will be without a big star. Steve Zakuani returns to the bench for the Sounders after Cheap NFL Jerseys | missing the past five months (21 games). He was last available April 20 against Colorado. Brad Evans returns, but on the bench. This is Seattle s 32nd lineups in 33 games in all competitions.

House Democrat John Yarmuth of Kentucky fears the government is headed toward shutdown by Sept. 30, and it s the Republicans in his chamber who are to blame.
It s basically because the Republicans in the House refuse to be a part of a governing coalition鈥hey re on an Nike NFL Jerseys ideological mission,鈥?he said Saturday on聽Weekends with Alex Witt.
Yarmuth, a member of the House Budget Committee, said聽House Republicans are unable to act unilaterally as a result of the ideological factions within their own party. He said House Speaker John Boehner could take a Custom Arizona Cardinals Jerseys For Sale page from his Democratic predecessor Nancy鈥檚 Pelosi鈥檚 playbook to pass legislation despite ideological differences.
鈥淪he would have basically put the hammer down, New NFL Jerseys would have talked about committee assignments and financial help and so forth, or denying it. She would have been a very she was and is a very, very tough leader. Speaker Boehner doesn t act doesn t function that way, but he s going to have to or else he s going to put bring the government to a screeching halt,鈥?Yarmuth said.
The Kentucky congressman explained the ramifications of Congress failing to pass a continuing budget resolution: The economy would be deeply affected especially because the 鈥渇ederal government is 20 to 25% of the economy,鈥?and Congress鈥?reputation would continue to decline in the eyes of constituents.
鈥淎n Arizona Cardinals Jerseys overreaching fear is that I think the American people have clearly lost confidence in the Congress鈥?ability to govern.鈥?Financial markets would follow suit, he added.

WASHINGTON (AP) 鈥?A little more than 24 hours after an IT contractor shot dozen workers at the Washington Navy Yard, the company's CEO told the Navy secretary he had the experience to help improve military security. The email from chief , which included descriptions of his background and expertise, stunned some Navy leaders in the wake of the shootings Monday that left 13 people dead, including the gunman, former Navy reservist of Fort Worth, Texas. The correspondence also fueled concern about what defense officials believe may have been Discount Arizona Cardinals Jerseys failures by the company to alert the military about Alexis' apparent mental health problems. In the email, which obtained, Hoshko said he was "dramatically" affected by the shootings and wrote that "my heart and prayers go out to the families and friends of those innocent victims."But the email quickly moves on, with Hoshko laying out his work experience and offering his services. He wrote that he was "confident that I can provide valuable input and solutions to the process that will provide better security for the military, contractors and civilians."Navy officials confirmed that email was sent Arizona Cardinals Jerseys Discount | to Secretary . They declined to characterize its contents.Florida-based The Experts declined comment.Revelation of the email comes as the Navy and the review Alexis' Navy service history, Discount Arizona Cardinals Jerseys | the 's security clearance procedures, safety at defense installations Arizona Cardinals Jerseys Discount | around the world and the responsibilities that contractors have in reviewing their workers and notifying the military about potential problems. One of the first reviews, examining the nearly four years of Alexis' troubled Navy career, is almost complete, according to the Navy. Mabus had asked for a review of Alexis' service record to determine if his behavioral problems Arizona Cardinals Jerseys Discount | while in the Navy should have affected his ability to keep his security clearance.A secret security clearance is good for 10 years. It carries over, even if a worker leaves the military and joins a private company, as long as the gap between the two jobs is not more than two years. The Experts twice conducted a typical employee background check of Alexis, but found only a traffic violation. As a result, Alexis' clearance level was simply verified when he went to work for The Experts, but no additional research or checks were done.Officials have acknowledged that many red flags may have been missed in the months and years before Alexis brought a sawed-off shotgun into Building 197 at the Navy Yard in the District Cheap NFL Jerseys | of Columbia and began shooting.Alexis had maintained his secret level security clearance and passed at least two background checks despite a string of minor arrests, mental health issues and some recent bouts of suspicious conduct that raised worries even within the company.

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz laid out his strategy on Sunday for trying Customized NFL Jerseys to dismantle ObamaCare in the Senate, amid increasing questions about whether he has the support of fellow chamber Republicans and if he鈥檒l force a government shutdown to win.
Cruz explained to 鈥淔ox News Sunday鈥?his procedural strategy, after suggesting Friday that Senate Republicans use a filibuster to block Senate Democrats鈥?attempt to use their majority to swiftly vote down the House-approved plan -- which is to fund the entire federal government, except ObamaCare, before the Oct. 1 deadline.
鈥淚f Senate Republicans stand together, we can stop Custom NFL Jerseys [Majority Leader] Harry Reid,鈥?said Cruz, the Tea Party-backed senator.
Cruz suggested Senate Republicans take their stand by attempting to block Reid鈥檚 effort to exclude GOP input through cloture, which can block debates and amendments with only 50 'yes' votes.
鈥淚f the majority is going to run over the minority with a train, then the minority has the ability to stop them.鈥?he said. 鈥淎 vote for cloture is a vote for ObamaCare.鈥?
Still, Cruz said he doesn鈥檛 know Arizona Cardinals Jerseys For Cheap if he can get 41 votes should any vote go a 60-vote super majority.
Cruz鈥檚 plan is facing criticism from Democrats as well as Republicans, who, based on authentic jerseys for cheap Authentic Arizona Cardinals Jerseys Sale recent polls, fear they will be blamed for a government shutdown.
Among the congressional Republican leaders opposing Cruz and his plan are Tennessee Sen. Bob Corker and New York Rep. Peter King, who voted Friday in favor of the House plan but said Cruz鈥檚 efforts will expose him as a 鈥渇raud.鈥?
Missouri Democrat Sen. Claire McCaskill told 鈥淔ox News Sunday鈥?that she could believe Republicans were going to 鈥渢hrow a tantrum and throw the entire economic recovery under a bus.鈥?
She also rejected Cruz鈥檚 argument that Senate Democrats are using 鈥渂rute political force,鈥?saying they are simply following the will of voters who last year re-elected Obama and reject Republicans authentic jerseys wholesale trying to end ObamaCare.
Cruz said he expects the Senate, if it votes down the House plan, would send it back to leaders of the Republican-controlled chamber, with the deadline for a temporary spending bill just eight days away.

The Lumineers, left to right: Neyla Arizona Cardinals Jerseys Discount | Pekarek, Wesley Schultz and Jeremiah Fraites
Just a few miles from where the Lumineers recorded their Grammy-nominated debut album last year at Woodinville鈥檚 Bear Creek Studio the Denver-based folk-rock band played to a large, adoring crowd Friday night at Marymoor Park.
Sounding sentimental, singer and guitarist Wesley Schultz talked about the band鈥檚 amazing trajectory since releasing its self-named debut album, as well as the enthusiastic support it has received from Seattle fans 鈥?more support, in fact, than from hometown fans in Denver, he said. Schultz reminded the crowd of the band鈥檚 first Seattle show聽at the Capitol Hill Block Party, a noteworthy date that led to a string of Seattle appearances as the group rose in stature.
Though the Lumineers have only released one 11-song album (as well as a deluxe version with five bonus tracks), the group has been riding a wave of renewed interest in folk-rock that includes such bands as The Avett Brothers, The Decemberists and Mumford Sons.
The crowd spanned several generations, from 20somethings to baby boomers. The band鈥檚 simple, straightforward, 鈥?0s-inspired songs were easy on the ears 鈥?and easy to sing along to. The band鈥檚 more romantic songs held additional appeal for many of the younger couples in the audience.
In addition to Schultz, who wore his trademark brown fedora, the band included core members Neyla Pekarek (cello and vocals) and Jeremiah Fraites (drums, percussion, mandolin and backing vocals), as well as touring musicians Stelth Ulvang (piano, mandolin, accordion, guitar and backing vocals) and Ben Wahamaki (bass).
The off-and-on drizzle stopped just before the group arrived on stage. The weather behaved itself through most of the set, sprinkling only occasionally.
The stage was illuminated by five chandeliers and two large lighting towers resembling metal trees.
The Arizona Cardinals Jerseys Discount | band (which performs聽a second sold-out聽concert聽Saturday night) opened with 鈥淪ubmarines,鈥?a song about danger and credibility, and the rousing, retro-sounding 鈥淎in鈥檛 Nobody鈥檚 Problem (But My Own),鈥?written by Denver country-folk trio Sawmill Joe.
鈥淔lowers in Your Hair,鈥?another song that recalled the 鈥?0s, preceded 鈥淗o Hey,鈥?the infectious hit single from the group鈥檚 debut album. For the crowd, it Arizona Cardinals Jerseys Discount | was聽a聽perfect photo and video op. But Schultz stopped the tune to ask that people put away their cell phones and (for those in the back) please stand up and聽celebrate the moment聽(this was a little odd, since all of the folks on the main field were聽on their feet).
The sweet pickup song 鈥淐lassy Girls,鈥?opening with the deep buzz of Pekarek鈥檚 cello, featured the line, 鈥淐lassy Discount Arizona Cardinals Jerseys | girls don鈥檛 kiss in a bar like this.鈥?The lovely 鈥淪low It Down鈥?featured Schultz alone on stage, later joined by Fraites. Then came 鈥淔alling in Love,鈥?a new song slated for the band鈥檚 sophomore album, featuring Schultz and Pekarek, whose voices intertwined beautifully on the light, romantic tune.
Security personnel escorted Schultz and Ulvang (on accordion) into the crowd Discount Arizona Cardinals Jerseys for 鈥淒arlene鈥?and 鈥淓loise鈥?(the remainder of the band played from the stage). Performing on stools, Schultz and Ulvang provided another smart phone video moment, but this time Schultz didn鈥檛 chastise concertgoers for hoisting their devices in the air.
鈥淪tubborn Love,鈥?another hit with a stubborn hook, and 鈥淔lapper Girl鈥?closed the main set. Schultz returned alone for the first song of the encore, Bob Dylan鈥檚 鈥淕irl From the North Country鈥?(from 1969鈥檚 鈥淣ashville Skyline鈥?album). But because of a misstep, Schultz had to start over. He needs a little more practice on this country-rock classic.
Pakarek, on electric bass, joined Schultz Cheap NFL Jerseys | for 鈥淢orning Song.鈥?鈥淕un Song,鈥?another new聽ditty the band will include on its next album, featured the line, 鈥淚 can鈥檛 believe what I found in daddy鈥檚 sock drawer.鈥?Fraites gave the chandelier above him a little spin with his drum stick, bringing cheers from the crowd.
The band closed its nearly 90-minute set with the moving 鈥淏ig Parade,鈥?an oblique song about politics, celebrity, violence, cynicism and ultimately (perhaps) redemption.
Opening the show were singer-guitarist Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats, a Denver indie rolk band with a soulful, R B-influenced sound. They played songs from the new album, Falling Faster Than You Can Run. But the group might have been more compelling in a club setting and not such a big outdoor venue.
Dr. Dog, a six-piece indie-rock band from Pennsylvania, followed with an intriguing selection of 鈥?0s-inspired tunes, among them the catchy new song, 鈥淟ove.鈥?

Patriots Today is debating the situation at safety and PFW declares a winner!Over the coming weeks leading up to training camp Patriots Today will be debating some of the more interesting individual positional battles that will be taking place in New England. After Brian Lowe and Jackie Brittain make arguments for the players who鈥檒l be competing for roles and jobs this summer, the PFW staff will analyze the debate Twins 33 Justin Morneau red 2010 All Star Jerseys and declare a winner. We continue the series with a look at the battle at safety! Steve Gregory vs. Tavon Wilson The arguments: Lowe points out that the jury is still out on Wilson鈥檚 future but correctly cites the so-called 鈥淵ear 2 jump鈥?as Blank Red 2011 All Star Jerseys a factor in his development. He also mentions the presence of Devin McCourty at safety perhaps allows Wilson to fit into a more defined role as a backup. Brittain correctly points toward Gregory鈥檚 experience and intangibles while also adding the fact that there is room for improvement in the veteran鈥檚 game. The verdict 鈥?Wilson: As a second-round pick in 2012, Wilson isn鈥檛 going anywhere while Gregory鈥檚 salary could make him expendable if he鈥檚 not a starter. With Adrian Wilson potentially moving into the lineup next to McCourty, Lowe鈥檚 argument for Tavon Wilson being the more attractive alternative for a reserve role was stronger. Now it's your turn to weigh in. Who has a better chance of making the Patriots roster at safety 鈥?Tavon Wilson or Steve Gregory? to vote on a mobile device. What do you think of the battle between Gregory and Wilson? Let us know with a comment below! PHOTO GALLERY:

Since their introduction over the past decade, Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) have quickly established themselves as a standard and highly sought-after financial instrument for investors.

ETFs are securities that track the performance of a commodity or a basket of assets much in the same way as an index fund, but that trade on an exchange in the same way as a stock. Their attraction as an investment tool comes from their dexterity, as ETFs can be designed to replicate the performance of just about anything, from commodities like gold and oil, to different groupings of companies, to types of countries. Indeed, emerging market ETFs are a good example given their enormous recent popularity with the rise of rapidly developing counties such as Brazil, Turkey, China, and India.

Several days of steep sell-off on the bond market, triggered almost two weeks ago after Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke announced that the central bank would like to slow down on its massive monthly asset purchases in the near future, hit all asset classes, and ETFs were by no means spared.

But the reaction on the ETF market could not be explained away in its entirety by the general sell-off, and instead pointed to what could emerge as a significant problem with the very way in which ETFs are constructed. On Thursday June 20, one day after Bernanke鈥檚 post-FOMC press conference, not only did ETFs drop in price as traders and investors flocked to the exits, the disparity between the price of ETFs and the price of their underlying assets widened dramatically.

In other words, the $2 trillion ETF market watched as ETFs became cheaper than the actual assets they seek to track, and investors subsequently moved in large numbers to redeem those assets. After one Citigroup (C) trading desk reached its allocation limits, the bank had to stop accepting orders from ETF issuers to sell-off their underlying assets, while State Street (STT) for its part said that it would stop accepting cash redemption orders from dealers of municipal bond products.

What is of particular concern is the ability of ETFs to drag down the actual Rangers 27 Vladimir Guerrero red 2010 All Star Jerseys price of their own underlying assets. But this development was not entirely unexpected; A November from the Kansas City-based Kauffman Foundation, an organization that conducts research and promotes education in economics and entrepreneurship, foretold of the predicament that was highlighted in the recent sell-off.

The report鈥檚 authors, Harold Bradley and Robert Litan, warned that ETFs pose systemic risks to the global economy that are not unlike the ones seen with the so-called 鈥渇lash crash鈥?that occurred some months prior to the report鈥檚 release. Bradley summed up Rays 3 Evan Longoria Home Cool Base White 2010 All Star Jerseys this danger rather succinctly, saying 鈥淓TFs are radically changing the markets, to the point where they, and not the trading of the underlying securities, are effectively setting the prices of stocks of smaller capitalization companies, or the potential new growth companies of the future.鈥?
The report goes on to note that while the original promise of ETFs was in their ability to provide investors with an affordable way to 鈥渁ssemble diversified stock holdings,鈥?the funds are now 鈥渦ndermining the traditional price discovery role of exchanges, and in turn, discouraging new companies from wanting to be listed on U.S. exchanges.鈥?
The that was seen at the end of last month, however, was not just limited in its consequences to deterring or even harming aspiring growth companies from entering the market. Rather, Citigroup and Sate Street鈥檚 temporary suspension of sell orders point to more ominous consequences resulting from the ETF market鈥檚 ability to artificially distort the costs of underlying assets.

The result is a situation in which the ETF鈥檚 relationship to its underlying assets becomes parasitic, and this could have drastic consequences for the global economy. Emerging Market economies, who have seen an influx of investment thanks to the popularity of Emerging Market ETFs, could take a serious hit if the type of outflow that has been seen over the past two weeks gets any more serious than it already is.

Furthermore, there is no telling what form the reaction from investors would take if the practice of 鈥渢emporarily鈥?preventing them from cashing out on underlying assets spreads from Citigroup and State Street spreads to other financial institutions in the event of a more severe sell-off.

At the end of the season, the major awards voters will evaluate players in their own way, with a variety of definitions applied to the word 鈥淰aluable鈥?Brewers 8 Braun Blue 2010 All Star Jerseys in Most Valuable Player. There are the Sabermetricians who will argue each player鈥檚 effect on his team winning, commonly using the Wins Above Replacement (WAR) stats. Traditionalists will focus on raw stats that can be calculated without logarithms. But what about the players that teams can ill-afford to lose, the truly indispensable? Some of the players mentioned below will get MVP consideration, others will not. But at this point in the season, these are the 15 most indispensable players.

1. Clayton Kershaw, L.A. Dodgers
The Dodgers鈥?offense, with all its expensive firepower, has been strikingly anemic this season. With a largely unproven bullpen and starters Chad Billingsley (Tommy John surgery) and Zack Greinke (broken collarbone) out, Kershaw must carry this pitching staff, which gets little offensive support.
2. Yadier Molina, St. Louis
St. Louis pitchers never shake off their catcher. If Yadi puts it down, that鈥檚 what they throw. Manager Mike Matheny regularly rotates his lineup to give players an occasional day off, but Molina rarely gets a break, and no one is missed more than the backstop. He鈥檚 missed one game this season, a loss naturally. And if that weren鈥檛 enough, there鈥檚 high praise from the Redbirds鈥?former manager Tony La Russa, who called Molina the most indispensable player on the Cardinals 鈥?and that was when Albert Pujols was still on the roster and in his prime.
3. Buster Posey, San Francisco
When the former Rookie of the Year and the 2012 MVP is healthy, the Giants win the World Series. The lineup is not very deep and Posey hits for average and power as well as drives in runs.
4. Joey Votto, Cincinnati
The Reds鈥?first baseman drew 24 walks in the first 16 games. That鈥檚 Barry Bonds territory. No hitter in Cincinnati鈥檚 lineup garners more respect from opponents than Votto, who currently carries a .500 OBP.
5. Justin Upton, Atlanta
The first splash in Atlanta was the signing of center fielder B.J. Upton. The final splash in Atlanta over the winter was the trade for Justin Upton from the Arizona Diamondbacks. While B.J., fellow outfielder Jason Heyward and other Braves struggled, Justin Upton flourished. He has carried the offense with 12 home runs, 11 of them solo shots.
6. Bryce Harper, Washington
Few 20-year-olds are considered among the most indispensable players. For a team bent on winning the World Series, April has not been kind to the Nats. But Harper, bent on being the best player in the game, is hitting .360 while his teammates are scuffling at .225.聽
7. Mariano Rivera, New York Yankees
It doesn鈥檛 matter that the all-time saves leader is 43 years old. It doesn鈥檛 matter that he is returning from a torn ACL suffered last May. Somehow the Yankees are in contention despite being decimated with injuries. Getting nine saves from Rivera in April has been huge, but the intangibles he brings may be even more important.聽
8. Austin Jackson, Detroit
Okay, no one in their right mind would take Jackson over Miguel Cabrera or Prince Fielder. But numbers tell us that it鈥檚 Jackson who is the offensive catalyst for the Tigers. When he delivers, they win.聽
9. Dustin Pedroia, Boston
The mighty mite leads the team offensively, he leads the team on the field and he leads the team in the clubhouse.聽
10. James Shields, Kansas City
The Kansas City Royals have been grooming top prospects for a few years now. The club has been asking fans to be patient. Believing that this was the year to go for it, the team acquired Shields over the winter to fill the role of ace as well as mentor a staff of young pitchers. To this point, Shields has earned high marks in both areas. Without him, the Royals are not in first place.
11. Matt Moore, Tampa Bay
With run production almost non-existence and other starters like 2012 Cy Young winner David Price off their game, Moore has been unhittable. He鈥檚 credited with five of the team鈥檚 11 wins. The American League red blank 2010 All Star Jerseys team has enough pitching and guile to stay in the AL East race, but without Moore, the Rays would be closer to fifth than first.
12. Matt Harvey, N.Y. Mets
New York fans are not exactly the most patient. So enduring a rebuilding process is difficult. Difficult for the front office, the players and the fans. So what Harvey has done on the mound 鈥?4-0 with 1.54 ERA, 14 hits, 10 walks and 39 Ks in 35 innings 鈥?may not be as important as the lift he鈥檚 given fans and the belief he鈥檚 instilled in the organization that the future at Citi Field is bright.
13. Adam Jones, Baltimore
Chris Davis is off to a torrid start in Baltimore. But Jones is quickly becoming one of the best players in the game and will be in the AL MVP discussion all season.聽
14. Yoenis Cespedes, Oakland
The second-year slugger has struggled out of the gate to the naked eye, but with him in the lineup the A鈥檚 are 10-2. Without him, 4-10.
15. Felix Hernandez, Seattle
With King Felix on the hill, the Mariners know they鈥檒l get seven strong innings. What they don鈥檛 know is whether they鈥檒l get any runs or not. When they do, they win.

Banking regulators took another step on Tuesday toward reducing the risks that huge banks pose toward the American economy.

Starting in 2018, JPMorgan Chase (JPM), Bank of America (BAC), Wells Fargo (WFC), Citigroup (C), Morgan Stanley (MS), Goldman Sachs (GS), Bank of New York Mellon Corp (BK), and State Street Corp (STT) will be required to hold six percent of total equity as capital, more than doubling the three percent equity capital requirement established by Basel III.

The rule would apply to banking units insured by FDIC, and regulators also proposed a five percent leverage ratio for companies that own the insured banks.

The timing of the capital requirement change is certainly a little curious. Dodgers 16 Andre Ethier Road Cool Base Grey 2010 All Star Jerseys Bank executives argue that heightened regulations could stall the American economic recovery. With home prices are up tremendously over the last year, stocks trading near all-time highs, and a double-dip recession off the table for now, it would Rays 3 Evan Longoria red 2010 All Star Jerseys be a shame to see all this gradual progress go to waste.

However, banking regulators are taking the safe approach. With the global economy on shaky ground and domestic unemployment stubbornly high, the American economy remains somewhat vulnerable. Ensuring the big banks don鈥檛 overleverage alleviates the risk of a new financial crisis, which could be even more crippling than the one experienced five years ago.

According to FDIC Chariman Martin Gruenberg, the new requirement would create 鈥渁 stronger, more resilient industry, better able to withstand environments of stress in the future.鈥?The change also doesn鈥檛 come into effect until 2018, which gives the banks and the financial system as a whole plenty of time to prepare for tighter capital requirements.

Additionally, according to Reuters, most of the banks currently aren鈥檛 too far away from the six percent threshold. Analysts estimate that leverage ratios are currently at 4.6 percent for Morgan Stanley, 5.1 percent Citigroup, 5.3 percent for JPMorgan, 5.7 percent for Goldman Sachs and Bank of America, and 7.5 percent for Wells Fargo.

Consequently, bank stocks didn鈥檛 fret the new rule during trading on Tuesday. With the exception of Wells Fargo, all the megabanks traded higher at Tuesday鈥檚 close.

The benchmark indexes in the U.S. posted solid gains last week, largely on the back of strong economic data, especially the latest nonfarm jobs report from the Labor Department showing not nearly 200,000 jobs being created in June, but 70,000 more jobs created in April and May than were originally estimated. This week, economic data is relatively scant, but includes the minutes from the latest meeting of the Federal Reserve three weeks ago. The markets have been reacting to commentary from the Federal Reserve, trying to delineate if, when and to what degree the central bank will begin to taper its stimulus of ultra-low interest rates of purchases of $85 billion each month in Treasuries and mortgage-backed securities. In June, comments from Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke about the possible end of QE3 as early as mid-2014, rattled the markets, sparking a nosedive of about 650 points across four days. A good chuck of those gains have now been recovered, but traders will once again be dissecting the minutes and looking for reasons to react one way or the other based upon what can be gleaned.

No "market moving" data will be coming on Monday or Tuesday. The Fed minutes will be delivered at 2:00 PM EDT Wednesday afternoon. Elsewhere this week, important data will include:

Thursday

Initial Jobless Claims for the Week Ended July 6 鈥?Last week, the Labor Department said that first-time filings for jobless benefits slipped lower by 5,000 to a seasonally adjusted 343,000, beating economist predictions for about 347,500 claims. The week prior's figure was upwardly revised from 346,000 to 348,000. The four-week moving average, a better gauge of the labor market because it irons out weekly volatility, moved down by 750 to 346,250. Generally speaking, economists view a claims total under 350,000 as a sign of modest growth in the jobs market. For the latest week, there are wide, varying estimates, with an average of economist expectations of 344,000.

Friday

Producer Price Index for June 鈥?In May, the Commerce Department reported that the PPI rose 0.5 percent, exceeded economist predictions of a 0.1 percent increase. It was the first rise in three months and was led by higher prices in gasoline, eggs and light trucks. Core PPI, which excludes the volatile food and energy segments, rose 0.1 percent, in line with expectations. Year-over-year, both overall PPI and core PPI were up 1.7 percent, a relative tame number as a gauge of inflationary pressures. Economists have mixed views on what the PPI did in June, with consensus expectations around 0.4 percent expansion. Core PPI is expected to rise 0.1 percent.

The markets will also be looking at the first estimate of consumer sentiment for July from Reuters/University of Michigan. For June, final readings of the consumer sentiment index ticked down slightly to 84.1 from 84.5 in May. Economists are expecting the first reading this month to show a rise to 84.8. While this index is not considered by many as "market moving," per se, it is Twins 33 Justin Morneau red 2010 All Star Jerseys analyzed because consumer sentiment is directly related to consumer spending, a key component that makes up about 70 of economic activity.

With the somewhat slow week in economic data, the market will be looking to Alcoa, Inc. (AA) Cubs 24 Byrd Navy 2010 All Star Jerseys unofficially kicking-off the latest earnings season on Monday.

Jim Harbaugh had his San Francisco 49ers less than 10 yards from a Super Bowl victory last year. With brilliant offseason moves and another great draft class, the Niners are the frontrunner to repeat as NFC champions. And since scheduling plays a huge role in the outcome of every season, Athlon is analyzing every team's 16-game slate.
San Francisco 49ers 2013 Schedule:
Week 1: Green BayWeek 2: at SeattleWeek 3: IndianapolisWeek 4: at St. Louis (Thurs.)Week 5: HoustonWeek 6: ArizonaWeek 7: at TennesseeWeek 8: at JacksonvilleWeek 9: BYEWeek 10: CarolinaWeek 11: at New OrleansWeek Cardinals 5 Albert Pujols Blue 2010 All Star Jerseys 12: at Washington (Mon.)Week 13: St. LouisWeek 14: SeattleWeek 15: at Tampa BayWeek 16: Atlanta (Mon.)Week 17:聽at Arizona
Order your magazine
Out of the Gate: The Niners will have the toughest first two games of the season of any team in the NFL. And the importance of games with Green Bay and Seattle cannot be understated, as both could determine playoff seeding. In addition, the NFC West could easily be on the line at CenturyLink Field just seven days into the season. And things don't get any easier for the 49ers either as they get a visit from Andrew Luck and the Colts in Week 3 and travel to St. Louis in Week 4. Most teams would be staring at an 0-4 start to the year but not San Francisco. It has to be bittersweet that the two toughest games in the division will be out of the way in the first month.
Toughest Stretch: The first five weeks of the season have to be considered the toughest stretch for the defending NFC champs. On top of two huge road divisional games and tests with elite signal-callers Aaron Rodgers and Luck at home comes a visit from the Houston Texans. The final seven weeks of the season won't be easy but the elite level of competition in the first five weeks makes the start to the season the most daunting stretch of the 2013 slate for San Francisco.
Swing Games:GB (Week 1), at WAS (Week 12)Crossover Divisions:NFC South, AFC SouthBye Week:Week 9Opp. 2012 W/L %:.520 (9th)8thEasiest Stretch: As the defending NFC champs, there shouldn't be any truly easy stretches. However, there is a five-week run following the Week 5 tilt against Houston that should provide some easier wins. The 49ers will face the Cardinals, Titans and Jaguars 鈥?arguably the three worst teams on their schedule this year 鈥?in three consecutive weeks. Then San Fran gets an off weekend before a visit from Carolina in Week 10. Four losing teams from a year ago and the bye week makes Weeks 6-10 the easiest stretch of games for Harbaugh and company.
Circle The Calendar: Week 2 in Seattle will be downright epic. The Link's crowd is always rowdy and both sides know full well what will be at stake in this monstrous NFC West showdown. Last year, the Niners edged past the Seahawks at home 13-6 in mid-October. However, Pete Carroll's boys put a beatdown on Harbaugh's guys 42-13 in Week 16 last year. These two coaches have had a long-standing rivalry dating back to their Pac-10 USC-Stanford days and now they may boast the two best teams in the league. This could be the biggest game of the entire NFL calendar in 2013.
Divisional Notes: This could be the toughest division in football but the Niners are luckier than the other three teams in the NFC West as they don't have to face, well, the 49ers twice. That said, road trips to both Seattle and St. Louis will be nasty in the first month. The home rematches with both will take place in back-to-back weeks to start December. With so much space between these key divisional games, it is likely that all three teams will be dramatically different in the second bouts. Arizona, which is no easy out, will be a welcome sight for San Francisco in Weeks 6 and 17.
Playoff Push: The final month won't be easy for the Niners but there is plenty to like about this end to the season. Road trips to Tampa Bay and Arizona both happen within the final three weeks and three huge NFC showdowns come in Candlestick Park. St. Louis had Harbaugh's number a year ago and will be a tough out while home-field advantage and the NFC West will hang in the balance when Seattle and Atlanta visit during December. The final home game of the year against the Falcons will come on "Monday Night Football" and should be one of the most anticipated games of the year.

Fantasy Playoff Run (Weeks 14-16): Colin Kaepernick could have one of the toughest fantasy playoff schedules of any of his peers. The dual-threat has to face top-seven fantasy defenses against QBs 2009 All Star New York Mets 57 Johan Santana Red Jerseys in Seattle and Atlanta, although both of those games are at home, as well as Tampa Bay鈥檚 upgraded secondary on the road. The Seahawks (sixth against fantasy RBs) and Buccaneers (No. 1 in rushing defense last season) also weren鈥檛 that kind to RBs either.

<p>Editor鈥檚 note:&nbsp;Every Friday, HLN brings you the "My First Time" series, which explores the first time your favorite celebrities did something significant or memorable (so get your mind out of the gutter!).</p>
<p>In this installment, film director explains why his newest film, 鈥溾€?鈥?a story that explores a teenage Holmes White Jerseys couple鈥檚 charming but somewhat toxic relationship, heartbreak and transition from adolescence into adulthood 鈥?is so personal to him. </p>
<p>HLN: In the film, both of the main characters Aimee and Sutter get their hearts broken. Do you remember your first heartbreak?<br>James Ponsoldt: My high school relationship. We dated for years, but when we first started dating, I don鈥檛 think either of us took it too seriously. She ended up dumping on me on New Year鈥檚 Eve, and I was bewildered that she would want to break up with me. I was such a jerk, idiot, teenage boy, but the idea that she would want to break up with me was crazy to me. And I remember her saying, 鈥淟isten, this is a pretty superficial relationship and this really isn鈥檛 that satisfying to me.鈥?It was so mind-blowing and just crushed me! And I had to work really hard to get her back. It meant that I had to be really honest with myself and realize that I was totally BS-ing myself and her and reveal myself in a way that I鈥檇 never done to another person. It was absolutely terrifying because you鈥檙e afraid if you really give of yourself, and someone rejects you, then they鈥檙e totally rejecting the core you. But her acceptance made me want to be a more honest person and to have deeper relationships with the people around me.</p>
<p>HLN: Did it make you grow up a little bit?<br>Ponsoldt: I think so, maybe a little bit.</p>
<p>HLN: Was that the first time you felt like an adult?<br>Ponsoldt: I still don鈥檛 feel like an adult. It鈥檚 very easy making a film about young people because internally, I still feel very much like a 17- or 18-year-old, so I feel like I鈥檓 a pretty decent advocate for them.</p>
<p>HLN: Both Aimee and Sutter have their own struggles with transitioning into adulthood. What do you think is the key for a smooth transition?<br>Ponsoldt: Being kind to people. You鈥檒l never regret being kind and it鈥檚 better to be kind than to be right, as they say. And also, I think as you get older, you develop the awareness that other people have gone through what you鈥檙e going through. You鈥檙e not an island. That helps, I think.</p>
<p>HLN: Do you have a personal example of when someone was kind to you in a Richardson White jerseys time of need?<br>Ponsoldt: For me, 鈥淭he Spectacular Now鈥?is really personal, even though it鈥檚 based on a that Tim Tharp wrote, because when I was younger, I was kind of like Sutter. When I was in middle school and early high school, I was getting into a lot of trouble, was really self-destructive and cared what people thought way too much. And there were a few people who called me out on it. The girl [who eventually broke my heart] I started dating sophomore year was not unlike Aimee 鈥?not really interested in stupid teenage boy stuff and partying and she actually read, she studied, she thought about the future. She just liked me for who I was. I also had a history teacher who crushed me constantly, but in the best way: He was so tough and knew when I was slipping. He understood boundaries 鈥?he wasn鈥檛 the teacher who said 鈥淗ey, I鈥檓 your pal,鈥?but he did seem genuinely concerned. And the things that break your heart the most are when you鈥檙e at that formative age and someone actually goes out on a limb for you and you let them down.</p>
<p>HLN: How were you able to capture the reality of those formative teenage years so well?<br>Ponsoldt: I feel like we live in a world of extremes, at least in how adolescent life is depicted. And of the two extremes, neither one feels necessarily relatable for young people. On one extreme, you have Disney movies, where kids are singing and dancing in malls; on the other one, you have movies where kids are doing meth and playing PS3 violent games and robbing banks. You either have to sensationalize or completely bowdlerize and romanticize to get something good, and I actually think spectacular now is safely in the middle.</p>
<p>HLN: What鈥檚 your advice for balancing living in the now, like Sutter, and planning for the future, like Aimee?<br>Ponsoldt: People want to be very 鈥減resent,鈥?they want to 鈥渓ive in the now,鈥?which I think it great, depending on how you approach it. I think from the point of view of our 18-year-old protagonist, living in the now as he takes it has a level of emotional cowardice and ethical spinelessness, where he doesn鈥檛 have to be accountable for the emotional fallout of his own actions on other people. It鈥檚 an easy thing to embrace if you鈥檙e a narcissist. However, if you鈥檙e conscientious of living in a community with other people, it gets a little bit harder. And if you鈥檙e really invested emotionally in the people around you and being a good custodian for their wellbeing, it doesn鈥檛 work so well. So in that regard, thinking about the future and about how choices I鈥檓 going to make and things I鈥檓 going to say are going to impact you is a great thing. It鈥檚 a big step in anybody鈥檚 journey toward adulthood.</p>
<p>HLN: What do you hope people take away from the film? &nbsp;<br>Ponsoldt: I think anything people take away from it is valid. I would never want to prescribe what people should take away from it. I think the goal of a story is to transport an audience member emotionally and help them find surrogacy in a character and hopefully help transform misery into joy, if you can. And leave people at the end at least asking questions or leave the film reverberating through their heart and mind in a way that something feels unresolved. Just like a good book or a good album, I don鈥檛 think it ends when the movie ends. I, personally, would like people Wholesale Chicago Bears Jerseys to still be thinking about these characters.&nbsp;</p>

ST. THOMAS - After almost two years of struggling on its own, Sugar Bay Resort and Spa is under new management.
In July 2011, the resort parted ways with Wyndham Hotel Group, which had managed the property for 15 years.
As of June 17, the resort is now being managed by Aimbridge Hospitality, which plans to invest about $10 Twins 33 Justin Morneau red 2010 All Star Jerseys million in the property during the next six months.
It has been a tough two years for the resort.
Several breakdowns of the main air-conditioning unit resulted in guest refunds and cancellations. The resort's cash flow troubles led to problems paying employees on time last fall.
Rich Cortese, Aimbridge senior vice president of Caribbean operations and development, announced the renovation and upgrade plan Tuesday.
"Our master plan for one of the most picturesque properties in the Caribbean is to transform this resort into a four star all-inclusive resort, with a timeless and unique contemporary new look," Cortese said.
While no structural changes will be made to the 294 room resort, the redesign will be extensive.
New York designer Paul Vega has been hired to reimagine the resort, transforming the lobby, rooms, suites, and restaurants.
The main restaurant will become Jade Samurai, a teppanyaki and sushi bar. A brick pizza oven will serve up food poolside.
Kathy Casper, Aimbridge Hospitality's regional director of public relations, said the redesign will touch most areas of the resort.
"It's going to be quite modern and quite trendy," she said. "He truly is one of the top designers."
The upgrade should be completed by the end of 2013, just in time for peak season to begin, Casper said.
The resort already is all-inclusive, but under Aimbridge's management even more will be included in each guest's hotel stay. Activities such as sailing, snorkeling, kayaking and windsurfing will be incorporated into the resort's all-inclusive packages.
Journeys Spa will be rebranded as The Radiant Spa.
A "Kids Klub" for children ages 5-12 will offer recreational and educational activities from water sports to iguana feedings.
Sugar Bay Managing Director Kashmie Ali said it is not clear yet how the change in hotel management will affect the resort's employees.
"We will continue to evaluate and work with the team with an overall objective of ensuring the resort product and services both are on par," Ali said.聽"As we complete the enhancements, this will upgrade the resort and continue to grow occupancies, and ultimately will benefit staffing levels on the island."
Lisa Hamilton, president of the USVI Hotel and Tourism Association, said she met the Aimbridge executives a few weeks ago at the association's Destination Symposium.
"We look forward to working with them. They have other properties in the Caribbean, and we're looking forward to them bringing their expertise here," Hamilton said.
In a prepared statement, V.I. Tourism Commissioner Beverly Nicholson-Doty said she welcomes Aimbridge Hospitality to the territory.
"We have a strong public-private sector partnership in the territory, and we continue to welcome healthy alliances as we position tourism as a major engine of economic growth," she said.
Dallas-based Aimbridge Hospitality is the nation's second largest independent hotel investment and management firm. The company provides management, asset management, development, renovation and consulting services.
Aimbridge currently owns or manages more than 180 upscale, independent and branded hotels with nearly 25,000 rooms across the United States and the Caribbean. The company has affiliations with Rangers 5 Ian Kinsler Red 2010 All Star Jerseys Marriott, Hilton, Embassy Suites, DoubleTree, Hilton Garden Inn, Hampton Inn & Suites, Aloft, Hyatt, Wyndham, Choice Hotels and the Phoenix Inn Suites chain of hotels.
